Pavel Fischer – Violin/ Ffidil

Pavel Fischer, was born in 1965 in Zlín, Czech Republic. His father was a well-known composer and conductor. Pavel studied at the Prague Conservatory and the Prague Academy of Music.

Pavel Fischer's career as a soloist and chamber musician began even as a student, as he formed a piano duo with the pianist Ivo Jan?ík in 1987. Together they won the second prize in the Janá?ek Competition in Brno, going on to take first prize in the International Chamber Music Competition in Trapani, Italy. In 1989 he co-founded the Škampa String Quartet. With Fischer as the group's leader, they won the Best Quartet prize in the Premio Vittorio Gui competition in Florence. This victory was followed up with another first prize at the Charles Hennen competition, Netherlands. In 1992 he received a special prize from the Czech Chamber Music Society.

 

Pavel Fischer performs regularly throughout Europe, America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand in the world's most prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall in London, New York's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and at the Santory Hall in Tokyo.

Pavel Fischer is now increasingly in demand as a teacher, having led courses and master classes at Wigmore Hall, the Quartet Academy in Amsterdam, and at the University of Mexico to name but a few. He is a visiting professor of chamber music to the Royal Academy in London and gives master classes at the Chetham´s School of Music and Royal Northern College in Manchester.
