Anthony Halstead - Horn

Anthony Halstead,  born in Manchester, studied horn, piano and composition in the 1960s at the Royal Manchester College of Music. At the age of 21 he became the youngest Principal horn in the UK.  He has led the horn sections of the LSO, ECO, and of the AAM, OAE and other UK period-instrument ensembles.  

Tony was professor of horn at London’s Guildhall School of Music from 1971 to 2000, and now enjoys a varied career as a conductor, director/harpsichordist, horn soloist, chamber musician and teacher of international repute.
