Jazz Course

Tutor: Christian Vaughan

This course is open to players of all instruments and at a wide range of levels, from those who have only been playing for a few years to experienced performers. We will be exploring aspects of music making ranging from American songs to Bebop, and from African folk melodies to Bossa Nova.

The emphasis will be on group playing and improvisation throughout, with students being encouraged to contribute their own ideas and to play by ear and by rote as much as possible. The aim is to make a shift away from the written note and towards making music from within.
