Friends of Musicfest:

Musicfest is an International Festival and Summer School of Music in Aberystwyth, which was started 21 years ago and has been run for the past eight years under the professional guidance of the artistic director, David Campbell an international clarinet player.   This prestigious event attracts an exciting group of resident artists who are all first-rate performers and exceptional teachers.  The listening public can attend lunchtime concerts, foyer performances and masterclasses as well as inspirational concerts given by both the tutors and their students under their tuition.

Students, both from music colleges and schools are joined by senior school children, with exceptional talent, to benefit from the festival.  To help with the tuition fees a charity was registered in the name of ‘Friends of Musicfest, Aberystwyth’ in 2007.  This raises money for bursaries from various trusts and foundations with the help of many generous individuals whose donations are especially important to Musicfest. These funds assist students, which includes many local youngsters, who would otherwise be unable to attend the event which is so advantageous to their musical knowledge and in many cases their future careers.  

How To Join:

As Musicfest grows year by year Aberystwyth is increasingly put on the musical map in Wales and beyond.  We are indeed privileged to have such an event in locally.  However, as the event grows annually the demands for bursaries increase as students, and their parents, find it difficult financially and if you would like to help by becoming a ‘Friend’ please contact:

Wrth i Musicfest fynd o nerth i nerth bob blwyddyn mae tref Aberystwyth yn gynyddol yn cael ei gosod ar y map cerddorol yng Nghymru a thu hwnt. Yn wir mae’n fraint i gael gweithgaredd o’r math yn lleol. Fodd bynnag wrth i’r gweithgaredd dyfu’n flynyddol mae’r galw am grantiau yn cynyddu gyda myfyrwyr, a’u rhieni, yn ffeindio pethau’n anodd yn ariannol.
